It all started with a movie marathon. You know how you get caught up in a genre and don\u2019t how to leave until you have seen it all. The genre that day was science fiction. Matrix, Westworld, Her, Black Mirror, etc. What stuck out more than anything was the discussion of sociological effects of technology. Is it okay to trap someone in a simulation to extract a confession out of them (Black Mirror: White Christmas)? Would it be against the right against self incrimination?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bThus, the idea was born on 4th October, 2019. We completed our first inductions with six founding members and Professor Atul Kumar Pandey as our faculty coordinator. The cell was formed to spread awareness and beat the curve when it comes to a niche area like technology law.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The vision of the cell has three phases:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bPhase 1 (Knowledge Development)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The Cell for Law and Technology was established with the aim to create a platform to raise awareness about the interface of technology and law. When it comes to the intricate interactions between technology and legal policy, the Cell wants to be ahead of the curve. It has been constantly taking efforts in engaging in a range of activities to maintain pace with its vision. One of the aspects through which the Cell attempts to accomplish its vision is by publishing the Blog on Law and Technology (BLT)<\/a>, a well-known peer-reviewed blog that provides a platform for students, professionals and scholars to share their thoughts and put in motion a discussion on Technology Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 2 (Research Database)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

This phase aims to create a research database for all new developments in the area of Technology Law. The CLT Talk Shows<\/a>, the Blog on Law and Technology<\/a> as well as Techtonic\u2019s Round Table Conference<\/a> are some of the efforts taken by the Cell in this direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 3 (White Cube)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

This phase envisions a society of engineers, policy makers and law students anticipating new developments in technology and researching on its probable policies and getting a research base ready for when the development becomes imminent. Techtonic\u2019s Policy Case Competition<\/a> is small step towards encouraging discussion in the field of Technology Law by young minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
