Scribbling Stratagem

To encourage youth to participate in the policy making process, as a part of its annual Technology and Law Fair: Techtonic 2023, the NLIU Cell for Law and Technology is organizing, Scribbling Stratagem, an online Policy Doodling Competition.

Scribbling Stratagem is the first of its kind policy doodling competition in the field of Technology Law that aims to inspire students to think critically and analytically, and put to use their artistic skills and formulate a solution to a contemporary policy issue, in the form of a Doodle Art.

Format of the Competition

The beginning of the competition shall be marked by the release of a Policy Case, wherein the specific contours of the policy questions will be defined. The teams will be expected to make a doodle submission addressing these policy questions, in the format prescribed in the Rulebook. The doodles submitted will undergo review by distinguished personalities in the field of law.


Theme

The theme for the Competition is ‘Right to Privacy versus Regulatory Mechanisms under the New Social Media Ethics Code’.


Why should I participate?

  • The winning team shall be awarded with a research internship opportunity with a faculty from NLIU, Bhopal, publication of their submission on NLIU-CLT’s Blog for Law and Technology and a Certificate of Merit.
  • The runners-up shall be given an opportunity to publish their submission on NLIU-CLT’s Blog for Law and Technology and Technology and a Certificate of Merit.
  • All participants shall be awarded a Certificate of Participation.

Important Dates

  • Registration Opens: 1 January 2023
  • Release of the Problem Statement: 5 January 2023
  • Registration Closes: 2 Februrary 2023
  • Deadline for Doodle Submission: 2 February 2023
  • Declaration of Result: 26 February 2023

Note: The date of registration and submission has been extended till 11:59 p.m., 4 February 2023.


Doodle Guidelines

  • The doodle may be in the form of a digital art or a physical art piece that may be scanned and uploaded.
  • A doodle may be in the form of a cartoon, comic strip, graffiti, sketch, painting, poster or any other doodle format.
  • Animation and videos would not be considered valid entries.
  • The doodle shall strictly be restricted to one page/image.
  • The participants must submit a Supporting Statement of not more than 200 words to explain the policy represented in the doodle. It must be noted however that no marking shall be made on the supporting statement.

Submission Guidelines

  • The name of the document shall be the ‘Team Code – Submission | Scribbling Stratagem’.
  • Submission must be made via the given Google Form within the stipulated deadline.
  • In the event the team has issues relating to the submission of their piece, they may email the piece to clt.nliu@gmail.com within the stipulated deadline. The subject of the mail for the submission of the doodle should be “team code – Submission | Scribbling Stratagem”.
  • Any submission made after the deadline shall not be considered for evaluation, and shall result in the cancellation as well as forfeiture of the registration fee.
  • Any submission with any name reference or disclosing the identity of the participant or the institution shall be disqualified.

Eligibility and Team Composition

  • Students may participate individually or in a team consisting of two (2) members.
  • Participants may form inter-institutional teams for the competition.
  • Participation is open to all under-graduate and masters students studying law and related subjects only.
  • There is no cap on number of teams registering from a college / University.

The registration fee is INR 200 for Indian teams (teams representing universities located in India) and USD 3 for foreign teams (teams representing colleges and universities located outside India. Teams representing branches of Indian universities located outside of India will also come under this category). Each team shall be provided a team code that they shall use as a reference point throughout the Competition.

No refund of the registration fee shall be permitted.

The Organising Committee reserves the right to add, amend or remove any rules regarding the Competition and the decision of the Organising Committee shall be final and binding on all matters.
